How to use the MRT
The MRT is about six years old, it is very English speaker friendly and offers a great way to get around the city. There are currently 69 stations and more are being constructed. The MRT stations are so user friendly that it seems silly to even have this guide, but here it is anyway.
Prices and Payment:

Prices for the MRT are very reasonable. You can pay for the MRT using your
Easycard or with cash. If you are staying in the city for more than a month or two you should consider buying an Easycard as you save 20% per trip if you own one. If you have cash you will have to use the ticket vending machines. Just look at the chart above the machine to determine how much your ticket will cost. Then select the number of tickets, select the price and insert your money.
The Stations:

There are currently 69 stations in the MRT system consisting of 8 seperate lines and the system is constantly expanding. You can get to pretty much any worthwhile part of the city using the MRT. For a detailed map of the MRT go to their web site:

Getting on the Right Train:

Once you're in the MRT finding your train is pretty easy. If you have any trouble just look on the walls for the maps. The final stops are listed above the trains. If you are on the Danshui line going to the green or orange line make sure that you get on the train with the proper green or orange light on the side of the train.
