Travel by Plane
If your looking for flight tickets the easiest thing to do is go through a travel agent. For a list of good agents go
here. The Taipei airport is pretty much the same as any airport around the world. Here's a quick guide to answer any questions that might arise when it comes time to leave Taipei.
The Two Airports
Two airports service Taipei. The Songshan airport which is located in the city and services local flights and the CKS airport which is located about 50 minutes outside of Taipei and services international flights.

Getting to the Airport
Songshan Airport:
The Songshan airport is located at the north end of Dunhua rd. The easiest way to get there is to take a taxi, which should be fairly cheap from anywhere in the city. If you want to save a few nt then you can take the MRT to Zhongshan Junior High School and walk.
CKS by Taxi (link):

Virtually any taxi you stop on the street will be happy to take you to the airport. They will charge 1000nt or possibly a little more depending on where you start. A taxi leaving from the airport is more expensive and I would recommend taking the bus back into the city.
CKS by Bus (link):
The station for airport busses is located close to the MRT main station and the Taipei railway station. Go to the corner of ZhongXiao W. rd. Sec. 1 and GuanQian rd and you'll see the station on your left.
CKS Layout
CKS, which is also called Taoyuan Airport, has two seperate Terminals. Terminal 2 is the newer and nicer one. Both terminals offer basically the same services. You can get from one terminal to the other using either the Skytrain or the Terminal Bus.
Terminal layout

Terminal one is laid out in a circle shape. The north side of the building is
used for departures and the south side is for arrivals.

Terminal two is a three floor building with the top floor used for departures and the bottom floor used for arrivals. the escalators and elevators are located at the back of the building.

Services
Both terminals offer the same services. Sometimes the company will change but the services are the same. While the airport has plenty of places to exchange money it is better to do this at a bank in Taipei.
Transportation from the Airport
There are a few ways to get from the airport to Taipei. Each are good for different reasons.
Bus

Getting a bus is the cheapest way to get into the city. Tickets cost around 130nt per person. The busses usually have plenty of room on them to stretch out. Your luggage can be placed under under the bus and it will be removed when you get off. The busses stop at different areas but most will swing by the Taipei main station on their way back to the airport.
You purchase tickets inside the terminal. There is a choice from many different companies. It doesn't really matter which company you choose. After getting your ticket go out the sliding doors and wait at the proper stand until your bus arrives.
Driver Rental

For 12000nt and up you can rent a car and driver to take you from the airport to any where in the city. The cars are nice and this is a good way to impress people who you are picking up at the airport. The only problem is that you will have to wait a little bit while the car is brought to the terminal. The car rentals are my favorite way to travel. Especially if I am accompanying friends or family.
Taxi
Both terminals have taxi stands where you can catch a taxi that will take you anywhere on the island. Taking a taxi is the fastest way to get somewhere from the airport, it is also the most expensive and usually not as comfortable. Taxi's charge by the meter, but they add 50% if they are coming from the airport. A taxi into Taiepi usually costs around 1400nt.
