English Taxi Service:
Most taxi drivers don't speak English. You can usually get where you want to go by saying road names or pointing out where you want to go on a map. My favorite method of expressing destination to show the driver an ad or business card with the address written in Chinese. If you really want a driver who speaks English there are two number's you can call:
Taxi service hotline: 08-0005-5850
will connect you to a taxi service but usually no one there speaks English |
An English speaking taxi driver I met: 09-1003-8744
great guy if you can catch him when he's working |
Taxi to the Airport:

Virtually any taxi you stop on the street will be happy to take you to the airport. They will charge 1000nt or possibly a little more depending on where you start. A taxi leaving from the airport is more expensive and I would recommend taking the bus back into the city.
Taxi Safety:
While Taipei is comparatively very safe, there have been instances of taxi drivers taking advantage of young drunk girls. My old roommate had her boobies grabbed at and I've heard some other similar stories. If anything happens you should call someone on your phone, this usually dissuades the uncouth driver from pursuing his zany antics.
