Filling US Taxes in Taiwan

If you're a US resident you will still have to file your taxes with the US government, not doing so will cause you troubles down the road when the IRS finds out that you didn't file a return.

Taxes if you were in the US for part of the tax year:

If you were in the US for part of the tax year you can fill out your taxes just like you would if you were at home. Get someone from home to mail you your w-2 forms and then either download the 1040EZ form or file online.

Taxes if you were in Taiwan for the entire tax year:

If you were in Taiwan for the entire tax year you wont have to pay any US taxes. You will still have to file though. To file you will have to fill out form 1040 (not 1040ez) along with form 2555-ez. You should also include a copy of your taxes which you paid in Taiwan. Below are the forms that you will need. On form 1040 you will need to fill in the results of form 2555-ez and you can use zero for your US income.
